(Assuming you're using Windows 10)  here's how to fix: 
1. Go to File Explorer

2. Click up where it says," Quick access."

3. Type in there %LOCALAPPDATA%\GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA

4. Press enter

5. Find a folder named "Default"

6. Right click on it and press rename

7. Rename the folder to Backup Default

8. Open Google Chrome again.


The problem should be solved
